If you are able to contribute to New Talavana or ISKCON then please let them know that these presentations by Dandavats dasa inspired you to contribute. This would help out my situation in my effort to survive and remain in association of Vaisnava devotees. I have no source of income. I am not asking for vacation money nor percentages on contributions made to New Talavana Dhama (an ISKCON Hare Krsna Farming Community).
We are raising money for the distribution of vegetarian foods to anyone in need and related needs with New Talavana. We currently have a free vegetarian love feast every Sunday at about noon. We bring vegetarian food to homeless shelters. We have a vegetarian cafe to help create funding for the distribution of vegetarian food.
We feed the “woofers” that pass through the New Talavana Farm every month. The Woofers give a hand in the garden. We feed residents of New Talavana, community members, and congregation. We feed anyone that stops in even unexpectedly. We do ask guests to show up for the Sunday Love Feast rather than showing up unexpectedly since it becomes uncertain about whether or not there will be enough Hare Krsna Prasadam sanctified vegetarian food available. Call ahead if you are uncertain.
This is a spiritual as well as charitable cause. Food is prepared with strict considerations for purity and cleanliness. We believe all food should be offered before God and we refer to the food we distribute as “Prasadam”. Some simply call our food distributed “Hare Krishna Food”. Food that has not been properly prepared and properly offered before God is referred to as Bhoga.
The dedicated devotees are under-paid considering the amount of service going into the distribution of this vegetarian food. I do not think anyone serving with this program receives a pay check. Perhaps there is some way to arrange things to offer qualified recipients some kind of pay check, but at the present time this kind of program remains undeveloped.
The kitchen is in need of renovation. Fuel is expensive. We would like to do more to grow our own food and this adds up to another expense. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Please contact Yogindra-vandana Prabhu for details. Yogindra Prabhu is the temple president and he regularly puts out requests for targeted funding. 601-337-2224 email@example.com

Other Items Regarding New Talavana Kitchen:
$100 needed every month for soap and paper products for regular programs and maintenance. There is not very much storage and so these supplies are purchased more on a monthly basis.
*$250,000 might be enough to build a building behind the kitchen to house shower facilities for devotees serving in the kitchen or pujari room; kitchen exclusively for the deities; and plenty of storage space for food and other things necessary for the prasadam distribution.
*Bio Diesel :
There is an excess of spent veg oil stored in the kitchen. There is still a need for capable hands to develop production of Bio Diesel.
$1,000 would probably help a great deal in repairs and renovations around the New Talavana kitchen.
$100,000 Needed for the following suggested items:
*Yearly taxes on New Talavana properties (going on $10,000)
*Monthly utility bills for New Talavana (check with temple management)
*New Deity Kitchen and possibly including an off-the-grid kitchen facility – I was noticing that the gas stove can be very difficult to clean especially when cooking Chapatis. If we had an outdoor kitchen facility then the gas stove might be easier to clean. In an outdoor kitchen hardwood and cow chips could be utilized. (check with temple management)
*Underground storage and tornado shelter (check with temple management)
*Food Relief, Food for Life, center in a poverty area could cost at least $50,000 to inaugurate
*Hare Krsna centers near colleges and universities could probably cost $50,000 to $100,000 to get started.
*Fixing and maintaining Water Pumps including the Hand Water Pump for emergencies. We used to have a hand water pump that is now broken down. Installing a new hand water pump that would last for along time could cost as much as $5,000.
*Storage facilities are probably needed at New Talavana for feast, festivals, and other items that may be needed for the regular programs. At the present time we are having difficulty storing paper plates, paper towels, other paper products, feast essentials, festival essentials, other kitchen items, and food utilized in the kitchen. A storage facility would probably cost as much as $10,000 if not higher.
When you bring your selfless donations to New Talavana Dhama please let them know that I helped you to make your sincere decision. Dandavats dasa. Call, text, or leave voicemail message:
If you would like to bring certain items that you purchase on your own there are some suggestions.
*If you bring cooking oil then please take into consideration which types of oils are preferred for their lordships. These types of oils are listed in accordance with most preferred first.
First: Real Butter or Ghee
Second: Sunflower Oil
Third: Canola Oil
Fourth: Peanut Oil
Vegetable oil, frying oil, salad oil, or Soy oil are all primarily Soy Oil and this is not a very good standard, but we are accepting if that is what people have to bring. It is not very good to offer Soy oil to their Lordships. Soy oil is also not good on Ekadasi.
Regarding the GMO problem in foods I am inclined to believe that Canola oil is more digestible and lesser of two evils over any kind of soy oil. Canola oil is also acceptable on Ekadasi. I noticed some oils claiming to be free of GMO, but the price might be a little high.
If you like you can also donate fancy cold pressed and organic oils such as olive oil.
*Regarding Rice Donations:
The normal standard for the Sri Sri Radha Krsna deities is Basmati Rice. The devotees will try to accept other brands of rice. If we had a better food-for-life distribution center in impoverished areas then we might better be able to distribute the cheaper brands of rice. There is very limited storage for sacks of rice, grains, and beans. Please check with the temple management ahead of time.
*Regarding Fruit Donations:
We have only so much room in the fridge to store fruit. During cold weather it may be possible to store extra fruit for offerings to their Lordships Sri Sri Radha and Krsna. A nice bag of apples, containers of strawberries, seedless grapes, and other fruit that is in season is probably a good idea. Good quality raisins, dried fruit, nuts, and seeds are also helpful.
Some brands of sugar utilize “bone char” which is apparently rather Tamasic. If possible please look for sugar that does not have bone char used in processing if you have hopes of donating sugar. Honey is also very nice offering.
*Paper products such as paper plates and paper towels are also helpful.
